On the Promenade you can see the lamprey in spawning

Residents of Narva during a walk notice lamprey in the water. In clear weather, flocks can be seen right from the shore.

This fish spawns in May; it has long been noticed that it coincides with the days of flowering bird cherry. The lamprey has a lifespan of 7 years, of which she spends five years in river silt in the form of larvae-tortoises, and two years in the sea, gains weight and becomes what we are used to seeing. After two years at sea, the fish returns to the river for spawning.

We remind you that fishing during spawning is prohibited!

At the end of the summer season, Ust-Narva hosts the traditional lamprey festival, which gathers tourists from Estonia and other countries.
